Comments on: The BBC “failed” Kate Peyton http://www.beta.frontlineclub.com/the_bbc_failed_kate_peyton/ Championing Independent Journalism Tue, 11 Dec 2012 12:50:51 +0000 hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.9.4 By: PMG http://www.beta.frontlineclub.com/the_bbc_failed_kate_peyton/#comment-443 Wed, 18 Mar 2009 06:45:56 +0000 http://www.beta.frontlineclub.com/dev/?p=2578#comment-443 There’s no doubt that Kates death was really tragic but journalists go to dangerous places and report on dangerous things. I don’t see what BBC did wrong. The cowardly killer is the guilty person. Kate was a professional, surely she had the sense to say no to a deployment if she felt unsafe? Surely BBC wouldn’t be so stupid to FORCE journalists to do work that they are afraid to do – what kind of journalism would that produce? The coroner obviously made a ruling but her family clearly are still not happy, what do they want, all journalists to avoid dangerous places. Rob Crilly is in Sudan today – were it not for him we would have no independent information.
Charles I’m so sorry for your loss but this kind of letter will not bring Kate back.
