I guess the point I should also make is that Save Darfur is both a formal coalition of member groups, and a more loosely applied term to cover all advocacy work on the issue. Not everyone shooting from the hip is necessarily a member of the coalition. And the language of the coalition is also more considered than it perhaps was a couple of years ago. The Save Darfur Coalition’s website even contains a page outlining the dangers of using terminology such as “black” and “African” in the context of Darfur.
So the term “Save Darfur” seems to be used both as a reference to a particular entity and to describe a wider, mass movement or even a state of mind.

Kind of gross, and yet extremely entertaining. Odd that it’s Save Darfur that has started to sound a lot less shrill and unreasonable in recent months…while De Waal, having been proven right, appears to be losing it.

It’s a pretty miserable spectacle. I have a fair amount of respect for the work that Reeves, de Waal, Prendergast and others do when it comes to raising awareness and providing worthwhile analysis. But this is ridiculous. Why don’t they just email each other? And as you say: meanwhile, in Darfur…

I think you give these clowns too much credit. Those running â€œthe mammoth Save Darfur movement" arenâ€t skilled/smart enough to use their clout to successfully stifle those who disagree with them.
