I’d consider myself even a bit more paranoid or prepared – so I ALWAYS carry a small flashlight in my bag. Either a headlight or a small penlight, preferably with LEDs. I’m that paranoid – or prepared – that I own a whole range and keep one in any bag I might use, from the briefcase for office use to a backpack for lightweight travel to a small pouch I carry even when just running around a military base (served me well when I had to board a chopper in A’stan with three minutes notice. And had an unscheduled overnight stay at my destination).
