Daniel Bennett, for example, posted a short entry on the eve of the London Media 140 conference as well as an update afterwards.

Twitter is pretty darn useful for monitoring breaking news, finding sources, gathering eyewitness material, tracking down interviewees, building a network of contacts, audience interaction, tapping into expertise, and promoting work.
Indeed, Darren Waters at the BBC said it was “foolish of any news organisation” to ignore the value of what was available on Twitter.

It seems that whatever happens to Twitter, the company, with regards to finance and potential competitors, the concept behind Twitter looks set to continue to change the parameters of news journalism for some time to come. link

Basically, Orinats Yerkir have a reputation for having a largely female following.
In part this has been because of previous control of schools and kindergartens, and by association, influence over the usually mainly female staff.
