I visited Gyumri in 2003 as part of a partnership between my former employer Florida A&M University and the Gyumri Pedagogical Institute. We worked with their faculty and students on beefing up their journalism offerings, including funds for a computer lab and library. I remain in touch with several friends I met!
Also, in Yerevan, I got to meet a woman named Narine Khachatryan. Do you know her? She and her husband have long been immersed in Armenian journalism. We are now staying in touch via facebook.
