When it started out it was as good it gets. It was “Frontline””. A mad bar with all the “Unusual Suspects”. Ask Jon Swain. Nate Thayer, William Shawcross, Tim Page, Leo Dobbs, Mark Dodd and the rest.

OK today it’s now on the Kuoni/Thomas Cook tour package but at the beginning it was the nearest thing to a journo hangout with a bit of UN and NGO thrown in.

There was even proper membership – unfortunately I might have forgotten to pay my subscription. Sorry !!
